On the opposing sideline, fellow rookie Carson Beck provided an encouraging glimpse into his potential during his exhibition debut for Arizona. Beck, a third-round selection from Miami, finished the contest with 188 passing yards and one touchdown.

The Cardinals briefly seized the lead late in the game when quarterback Kedon Slovis connected with Bryson Green for a 1-yard touchdown pass with less than two minutes remaining, putting Arizona ahead 30-27. However, King quickly rallied the Panthers, leading them downfield for the game-winning drive.

Earlier in the game, King had demonstrated his playmaking ability, throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Tyus III in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, which at the time gave Carolina a 24-20 advantage. He also found Ja'Seem Reed for a touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Throughout the contest, both teams opted to keep their established starters on the sidelines, providing ample opportunities for younger players to showcase their skills. Panthers' star quarterback Bryce Young was notably present, offering support from the sideline as King led the team.
