Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman Faces Domestic Charges in Alleged Car Attack

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman has surrendered to authorities and is facing three domestic violence charges. These charges are connected to an alleged incident in June where he reportedly attacked a vehicle occupied by his former girlfriend and their infant child.

Court documents indicate that the player, who is entering his sixth season in the National Football League, is accused of smashing the windows of his ex-girlfriend's car while their three-month-old child was present. The individual, whose identity has not been publicly released, informed law enforcement that Bateman allegedly utilized a blunt object to shatter the windshield and the driver's side windows of her 2021 Mercedes-Benz. The impact reportedly caused glass fragments to inflict several minor lacerations and contusions on her face. The couple's infant was secured in a car seat in the vehicle's rear.

The 26-year-old wide receiver was formally charged with battery-family violence, reckless conduct, and first-degree criminal damage to property. He reportedly turned himself in to police promptly after the incident occurred.

Team's Awareness and Training Camp Presence

The details of the incident remained undisclosed to the public until reports surfaced on Friday. Following these revelations, the Ravens issued a statement concerning their starting wide receiver.

"We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him," the statement read. "We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment."

The exact timeline of when the Ravens became aware of the alleged June 3 incident remains uncertain. The team commenced its 2026 training camp during the final week of July, with the initial practice session taking place on July 29. Bateman has been present and participating in team activities since that time.

Baltimore's quarterback, Lamar Jackson, expressed his satisfaction to reporters about having one of the team's key receivers "back on the field." This situation raises questions about whether Bateman withheld information regarding his arrest from the team at the start of camp last month, or if the organization was aware of the legal matter and permitted him to practice without public acknowledgment of the pending charges.

Contract Details and Court Orders

In June 2025, Bateman secured a three-year contract extension with the Baltimore organization, valued at $36.75 million, which includes $20 million in guaranteed funds.

Initially, a court order prohibited Bateman from having any contact with the mother of his child. However, he subsequently petitioned the court to lift this no-contact order, a request that was granted after the mother provided her consent. Despite the removal of the no-contact stipulation, the court mandated that Bateman complete a training program designed to address and prevent violent interactions.

Wider League Context and Defense Statement

The National Football League has experienced a notable number of domestic violence incidents, arrests, and court proceedings throughout the 2026 offseason. Bateman's legal representatives have issued a statement regarding the allegations.

"We will let the process play out and the facts will come out at that time," the statement partially read.
