The team finally reached Citi Field at 5:05 p.m. ET, just over two hours before the initially scheduled 7:15 p.m. ET start time. The game was subsequently pushed back to 7:50 p.m. ET, offering a mere 35 additional minutes for the fatigued squad to prepare.

Defying the Odds on the Field

Despite the exhaustive travel schedule and minimal rest, the Red Sox demonstrated remarkable resilience on the field. They started strong, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, and maintained their momentum throughout the game to ultimately defeat the Mets 6-2.

This victory comes as the Red Sox are enjoying a strong run of form, contrasting sharply with the Mets, who currently occupy the bottom position in the National League East standings. Given the Boston team's arduous journey, their victory was an impressive feat. For the Mets, however, losing to a team that arrived in town only a few hours before the first pitch, after enduring such a challenging trip, represented a particularly disheartening outcome.
